Thank you for joining us for a PlacesDAO neighborhood drop. Unlike other mints you may have participated in where you connect your wallet at the project website, we are asking collectors to mint directly on the Places contract at Etherscan. We'll be adding wallet connect functionality to the places.xyz for a future drop, but it's not quite ready yet.

If you've never minted from a contract at Etherscan it can seem overwhelming, but it's actually not that hard. In fact, you'll learn some things about how the Ethereum blockchain works and will likely have some fun in the process!

In order to mint your places token from the Places contract you'll need to follow these 3 easy-ish steps;

  1. Fund your Ethereum wallet
  2. Connect your wallet to the Places contract
  3. Submit the correct mint value and sign the transaction

1. Fund Your Wallet

In order to mint and collect an NFT you'll need to have funds in an Ethereum wallet that you own and manage. Holding Ethereum at Coinbase or another brokerage will not work. You'll need to transfer the ETH you hold at your brokerage to a wallet you control personally. Rainbow and Metamask are two popular software wallets that are easy enough to get started with.

Once you have set up a wallet with Rainbow or Metamask you'll need to transfer enough ETH from your brokerage to fund your transactions. We're not going to go into this process in depth here, nor will we discuss proper security for your wallet.

(We recommend reading this thread from Punk 6529 if you want to dive deep on good wallet hygiene and security)

Rainbow also has some great documentation for setting up and funding your wallet:

Create & backup your first Ethereum & Web3 wallet

The mint cost for a Place token is 0.05 ETH. You'll need at least that much plus extra to cover the transactions fees (AKA gas). We recommend starting with at least 0.75 ETH in your wallet just to be on the safe side. Once your wallet is funded, move on to Step 2.

2. Connect to the Contract
